One week till finals...

My new addiction

Mother Weed

While I was home for Thanksgiving this past weekend, I shared with my mom about the dream I had about 3 weeks back. It was the one where my family and I were Natives and we smoked weed for about 3 hours...well, in response, my mother told me that she in fact actually really wants to try some bud.

Cool beans.

What have you done today for liberation?

I really like what Gaga says about not telling the truth, but only showing her memories in an artistic way. A lot of art artists produce about themselves or history is really idealized and especially self-portraiture, what you see is reconstructed, remodeled, and played out. But I wonder in doing so, is Gaga really being more honest as she says?

Just Popping In

So it has been a while since I've blogged about anything. It's a strange thing when you log about your life (whether it be through a journal/ diary/ blog) and have missed a couple days...there exists this peculiar need to try and describe everything that has passed since the last entry date. Well, fortunately now that I reflect back - there hasn't been much to catch up on. The only things that really come to mind is the Occupy Wall Street movement, my Getty visit with my Art class today, and dreams.

The first picture above is a photo taken from my visit to the local Occupy Riverside meeting. Our politically active members of society have pitched tents and arranged tens of posters around the center of Downtown Riverside. Recently, there have been news about police cracking down on protesters - most notably the riot in New York where the city announced that the owners of Central Park have the power to determine whether or not the protesters can occupy the park. A few days ago, students at Cal State LB had a demonstration and were also assaulted by the police. So much is going on throughout the nation in response to the state of the economy - but I wonder what the Fed is doing in response to us.

Anyways, today my good friend David and I visit the Getty Museum in LA with our Art History class and it was so much fun. The visit at the museum was wonderfully informative, interesting, and a wonderful break from Riverside. There, we were met by the Curator and Assistant Curator to the new revolving exhibit titled "Images of the Artist." The focus of our trip today with our professor was to view the pieces they had in this exhibition and tie it to our class - Self-Portraiture. I loved the variety they included in this exhibit - particularly the ones by Zuccaro, Lucas Samaras, and an incomplete pastel sketch by Louis de Silvestre:

Something I was really excited to finally see was one of Messerschmidt's Character Heads. This particular head featured at the Getty (shown above) was sculpted from marble. I wish I could have seen a bronze head...but nonetheless, very happy to have seen that in person. After our tour with the curators, our group split up and explored the museum on our own. My group and I went upstairs to see oil paintings. Very prominent ones were by Rembrandt - which are astounding. I could continue on forever, but in short, very worth the 3 hours it took to drive there and back (due to my poor sense of direction).

The last piece I wanted to share is about dreams. Firstly, last week I had a dream that really stood out from the rest. It started in a village where I was the head of a Native American tribe. People came to my home and described an impending doom that would befall my people unless I found the solution. So my family (my mother, sister, and grandparents) jumped into our van and drove towards the city in search of this answer - whatever it may be. We journeyed through underground caves and desert cliffs, and finally arrived at a modern Native American reservation. Upon arrival, we walked into a clean, square shaped clinic and were seated in a circle on a small stage. What seemed to be at least 3 hours, my family and I passed around a HUGE bong and just smoked weed. MAN. Let me just say, I have never smoked weed in my life, and here I was passing a bong to my grandmother. The purpose of this seemingly random practice? I think we were all smoking in hopes of reaching an epitome where the 'solution' would ascend upon us like how antique gods would in Greek tragedies...In the end, no one found the solution and we all decided to take a break and have lunch: Chinese food, of course. My dream ends around here with my grandmother lecturing me how I was not rolling my joint correctly and that she would teach me how to blow 'O's after lunch...

  Strange...but quite an amusing dream.

Secondly. Today on the way to the Getty, my car and I were having a conversation about dreams. One of the passengers in the back seat, Sam, was telling us how her dreams were very similar to the surrealist paintings Salvador Dali painted. That concerned me...then she goes on to tell us that she gets sleep-paralysis and saw shadowy shapes that stand at the end of her bend and occasionally sit on top of her. THAT scared me. She then told us that in her house, she sometimes sees things crawling/walking around and also hears voices. All of this has become normal to her. I don't know what to make of her strange life...but what with crazy, surrealist dreams AND scary paranormal activity in her home??? There is most definitely more to this provincial life - for sure.

Well, that's enough for another 2 weeks. Hopefully I will finish my Transfer essays soon, nab something cool on Black Friday with my BF, and then finish off Fall quarter with a Bang!

Christmas - I'm almost ready for you!!

Studying At Its Best

IT'S COLD

No I am not going out.
No, it is not snowing.
And no, the air conditioning is not on full blast.
Am I taking the chilly weather a bit far?

Perhaps.

However, I must say...my room is SO COLD. As I am sitting in front of my desk trying to concentrate and do some Race&Eth. reading...my fingers and toes are freezing. I just can't think of anything else but try to find warmth. And so I decided my toes deserve to hide in my warm, fuzzy boots and that my fingers must find shelter in my uber cool Urban Outfitters finger mittens. And since my thermal really just isn't doing the trick the only solution is my fabulous red vest and scarf...I wonder if people who live across from my apartment can see me dressed like it's snowing...inside...

I'm not crazy.
(Actually...its kind of strange now that I think of it, how often I have said that recently.
I truly believe the more conviction I say it with, the more convincing it really sounds.)
And I'm not lying.

Anyways, I am glad that Riverside has finally cooled down and that it has rained a number of times in the past month. However, whenever it is cold...my poor old joints do start to hurt. My left ankle that I've sprained 3 times was definitely hurting today. Sigh...but on the flip side, I got some great hazelnut coffee for about $1.50 today at the student market!

Alright. That will be enough rambling. Thursday is the big day, and I must finish all my readings by tonight. Plus, I have not touched my transfer essays, internship essays, nor put in time for my Monday Condom presentation.

Now that I am warm there is no excuse to dilly-dally any longer. Peace.

(Go on. Judge me.)

So Happy

Earlier tonight, I was really struggling to get work done. I am a week behind reading for my Race & Ethnicity class - which is great because I have a exam this Thursday for it - and am in desperate need of studying for my Dirty 30 class - which is tomorrow.

Then out of nowhere, it starts raining!! YES!! Light + Thunder!! I am so happy. My night suddenly got 10x better!!

Not to mention I made a bomb dinner :)

Now...Vampire Diaries...then study for bio.

Pot of Gold - The Game Ft. Chris Brown

MM, yess! Perfect for another long night staying up to study.

OOOhh my god...

We've all seen the petty scrawling found on high school bathroom stalls that label certain people as 'sluts' or anonymously serving a public service by announcing who cheated on who...

Well, it doesn't end in high school.

However, I was actually quite impressed by the conversation I found in this UCR stall.

I wonder if Hitler was the solution...

Reflecting

12:30 AM.

Yesterday, I woke up to the sound of rain. It was absolute bliss. I love the rain - but not being in it. I love being in side where it's warm, with a hot cup of tea, with a book in my lap, nestled in my favorite sweater on my bed. All while the rain sings outside. I love it.

And so this morning, I took my time getting my day started as I listened to the rain. At 11:30 AM I picked up my girlfriend Ashley from school and we jumped onto the 60 to kick back at Panera. OOhh how I have missed Panera. The smell of bread with my hazelnut coffee was on point. Not to mention the hot liquid really hit the spot on a chilly, rainy day. At Panera, Ashley and I took our time eating brunch and exchanged stories from the past Halloweekend, the latest going-ons between past hallmates, and more. It was a well-needed reunion.

From there, I went to class at 2 PM and learned quite a number of things today. In my "Dirty 30" class, I learned that there is a myriad of sexual minority. These include LGBT, BDSM, Fetishists, Paraphilias, and more. It was fascinating to learn about certain practices, for example, those who practice sadomasochism (S&M) are educated in how to properly inflict pain. There are actually classes that teach you how to give a good flogging - and there's supposed to be nothing better than receiving a good flogging.

In Phys20 (Family of Planets) I learned that the sun will probably burn out in about 6 billion years. Like other medium sized stars, the sun will convert all its hydrogen to helium, then it will experience a helium flash which will expand the sun's radius all the way out to Jupiter, then it will shrink again in which the helium core will be converted to iron...at which point the solar winds will blow the remaining hydrogen into the universe...leaving what remains of the sun = a cold star...ultimately the suns death...but I feel like before the Earth has a chance to freeze over...we would burn first? Or maybe some other catastrophe would befall us first? Either way...I feel grateful for being born in the present - despite current economic and environmental woes - because I don't have to be worried about being consumed by the sun's Hellish fires.

Good stuff.

Anyways, tonight I am challenging myself. It is a Friday night, but I plan to pull an all nighter and get work done. I want to see if I can stay motivated and be productive despite it being the weekend. If I succeed - 10 points to Gryffindor. If not...I have Saturday to sleep and Sunday for safety. It is fail proof.

There is reason to my madness.

That's the end of my break. Time for Angela Davis, Women, Race & Class.

Aaahh, the college life.

Let the studying begin!

Tell Me This Isn't Bullshit

While reading articles online, I stumbled upon this post about Lil Wayne's Secret. Read it and tell me if you believe it. You can find this on http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Lil_Wayne%27s_Secret

Lil Wayne's Secret

Regardless of whether you listen to hip hop or not, I'm sure the vast majority of you has heard of Lil Wayne. His music is undoubtfully a part of pop culture, however in the past before his popularity was as high as it is today, he made a song called I Feel Like Dying. Now the actual subject matter is about what sounds like Lil Wayne's drug addiction however there have been rumors starting around 2007-2008 that the song contained a hidden message if played reveresed. As one of the many people that listened to it, I have to say I was pretty creeped out after hearing it. Some people have taken the liberty of making lyrics to the reveresed song and as expected the lyrics vary from video to video. However the content is always the same: violence, murder, and something demonic.
As a curious person I decided to do some research on the subject and I haven't found much. When Wikipedia had an article on the song briefly it said that Lil Wayne never commented on whether the rumors were true. Upon going for underground sources(I have some connections with people in the music industry) I uncovered that once during an interview Lil Wayne was asked about the rumors regarding the song and he reportedly ignored the question. When the interviewer persisted Lil Wayne just got up and left, ending the interview prematurely. Another account said that when a fan ran into him on the street and asked about the rumor, he starting yelling at him and cursing at him. When the fan kept asking, Lil Wayne assaulted him and told him to never mention the song again. There were several more accounts of things like this happening, however one of the stories involved a woman actually being murdered by fellow rappers and label mates Drake and Gudda Gudda for asking about it. Using the same music industry connections I have, I managed to get ahold of some back stage tickets at a concert he was having, however the concert wasn't for another five months so I had to put my quest for answers on pause until then.
When the day of the concert arrived I sat next to some die hard fans who kept screaming. Like most people, I'm always wondering how he became so popular despite his rap skills not being the best. But I wasn't one to question how a man makes his living so I just kicked back and enjoyed the concert. The concert itself was unbelievably hyped up. There was so much energy it was like a musician's idea of heaven. After the concert ended some hours later I went backstage and met Lil Wayne. Despite his lyrics he is actually a very sweet and homely guy. When I was introduced to him by the bodyguards, he was sitting down reading his Bible. He got up and greeted me and he introduced me to the rest of the Young Money group. Drake shook my hand then walked out of sight. Nicki Minaj gave me a hug and I wont lie, I wish that hug lasted forever. After shaking the rest of the group's hands and chatting briefly with Tyga, I sat down to talk with Lil Wayne. We discussed religion and our faith(for those who don't know Lil Wayne is a practicing Christain), the backround stories behind his songs(the song Lollipop was actually a dare by one of the song's producers, Jim Jonsin, to make a song about blow jobs to jokingly release as a single), and our lives.
I was impressed by how intelligent this man really is, hes had a rough life growing up in the Hollygrove area of New Orleans and he says hes blessed to have a career as sucessful as his. I decided after about 30 minutes of chatting to bring up I Feel Like Dying. As I brought it up, his face went from happy and cheerful to just drained of its color, like if something terrified him. As we talked about the song, he had told me he was in a hard time in his life when he wrote the song, that without drugs he felt like he would die, and then he tried to change the subject. When I asked about the rumors of a hidden message in the song, he became visibly furious and denied that there was a hidden message. When I told him I had sources saying otherwise, he was now in the point of tears and told me to get the fuck out. As security was escorting me out, I managed to catch a glimpse of him clutching his Bible and chanting Bible verses over and over again. The man was now obviously afraid and now it got me more curious: why would this man just freak out and have me kicked out? I knew there was a reason and I set out to find it.
After some time has passed, I managed to get ahold of Cool and Dre. If you dont know who they are, they are
The song reversed with supposed lyrics
The original song
hip hop producers who have produced many of Lil Wayne's songs. I chatted with them and as I mentioned the supposed hidden message in I Feel Like Dying, Dre just stomped out of the room and Cool just stood there with a frozen expression on his face. When I asked once again, he whispered to me "I can't explain here, they'll hear us, follow me." When I asked who was "they", he told me to follow him to his car. When we got to it, told me to NEVER mention what he was gonna tell me to anybody then he started the car and started driving. After fifteen minutes of driving and Cool being silent, we arrived at a large church. The church was already having sessions as I could see a swarm of people gathering inside. I followed Cool into the church and he said "Alright, they can't hear us here." When I asked who, he replied with "The real producers of that song." Apparently shortly before Lil Wayne's popularity exploded, he made a pact with a demon named Murmur, that in exchange for his soul, finding a few more people to make the same pact, and allowing him to possess Lil Wayne for a short period of time, he would make him one of the the most popular rappers alive and make sure his career prospers.
Lil Wayne agreed and he started looking for new talent to recruit. He said that Murmur was the true writer of the song and several of his minions were actually the producers. When Lil Wayne recorded the song, it wasn't really him, it was Murmur possessing him for the sole purpose of making the song reality. Lil Wayne has no memory of recording the song and after a few years found new recruits. Those new recruits? We know them as Young Money. All of the rappers in the Young Money group have made the same pact and Lil Wayne's deal was complete. Murmur kept his part of the deal and helped Lil Wayne's and the Young Money group's careers become sucessful. However Lil Wayne now regrets the deal because he now fears for his soul and now regularly attends church, prays fanatically, and reads his Bible every chance he gets, hoping it will be enough for God to forgive him and take back the deal.
Cool then said he remembers one time going to a studio session when the song was being recorded. He said Murmur looked like a soldier with a uniform that resembled the French Foreign Legion. The color of the uniform however was a mixture of red, black, and orange, like fire and brimstone colors. His face looked strangely human, not anything you'd expect a demon to look like but his pupils were pure black. Right next to him was a strange animal next to him that resembeled a giant vulture, he said that it kept staring at him and he got extremely uncomfortable. He said Murmur spoke to Lil Wayne briefly before turning into a floating pile of dust and violently flying inside Lil Wayne's mouth. The force knocked him down and he started violently choking and vomiting some foul smelling yellow substance. When it ended, Lil Wayne/Murmur went to the recording booth and started recording the normal song.
He looked behind him and saw 2 very large demonic creatures mixing the songs and playing around with the instrumentals. The larger demon looked at him with glaring bloodshot eyes and said in a low booming voice to leave the room. Then Cool told me "Now you know everything, never tell anybody you heard this from me, everybody involved in the making of that song is not supposed to reveal its true origins. Thats why Lil Wayne gets aggressive when asked about it, they will drag us straight to hell if we ever told. Do you listen to Lil Wayne or the other Young Money artists? Their lyrics aren't good, in fact, they flat out suck. It's beacuse of the pact is why they are so successful, the forces of hell make sure the weak minded people who listen to their music gets sucked in and asks for more. Now tell me your address, I'll drive you home." After driving me home, I watched him get drive off extremely quick and recklessly.
I kept replaying everything over and over in my mind, I couldn't believe it was true. But I guess this is pretty common, there are successful music artists who don't really have much talent today who are actually really popular. While it would be retarded to assume they made the same pact as Lil Wayne, it doesn't hurt to keep an open mind. Next time you hear conspiracy theories about popular artists selling their souls to the devil, keep an open mind. Because with some research, you might just find it true.
